Today we started our trip to the Grand Canyon and Tucson with a drive down to Pasadena. We started off around 10:30 AM with a drive down US 101, which is not the fastest route to Los Angeles – but it sure is one of the prettiest (California Highway 1 is prettier, but very slow…) We stopped off in San Louis Obispo, which is a perfect halfway point on our first leg. We had lunch at F. McClintock’s and walked up to a store called Decades (I once worked for the owners at another store of theirs, which is no longer…) We then made our way to Pasadena, and arrived in the early evening. Jerry had picked out a hotel in Pasadena, with the hopes of looking up a dress maker she found on the internet, but subsequently found that they don’t do custom orders. Coincidentally, the hotel was a short drive to the house of a friend I hadn’t seen in about a decade – so we went and visited him and his partner (female, not that it matters) for a few hours. We then retired to our hotel, the Comfort Inn on E. Colorado Blvd in Pasadena. The internet was useless, but the shower was strong and hot water quick.
